The multimodal and multiscale biomedical imaging facility is a collaborative effort between Peking University, the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other affiliated units in China. This project is one among ten priority construction projects outlined in the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" for national major science and technology infrastructure construction. The facility represents a pioneering scientific undertaking by Chinese scientists in biomedical imaging that spans nine orders of magnitude from micro to meso to macro scales. It enables functional/molecular and structural/morphological imaging with dynamic, high sensitivity, and non-destructive observation capabilities. Ultimately, this world-leading comprehensive and advanced biomedical imaging facility will provide imaging-omics research methods for complex life science issues as well as diagnosis/treatment options for major diseases.
